A personal grant is a financial gift awarded to an individual to help cover specific essential needs. Unlike a loan, a grant from Commonwealth Grants is non repayable. You never have to worry about paying us back or accruing interest.

No. We are a community funded organization. While we may work alongside social services, our funding comes from private donors, philanthropic partners, and global citizens who want to make a direct impact on the lives of others.

We focus on five main groups: retirees on fixed incomes, widows, individuals with disabilities, those currently unemployed, and workers who are employed but still struggling to make ends meet. Each application is reviewed on a case by case basis.

Transparency is a core value at Commonwealth Grants. We provide regular impact reports and financial summaries to our donors. We also ensure that, whenever possible, funds are paid directly to service providers like landlords or doctors to guarantee the money is used for its intended purpose.

Absolutely. We use industry standard encryption to protect your data. Your personal story and financial documents are only seen by our internal review committee and are never sold or shared with third parties.

Grants are typically intended for essential life needs. This includes housing costs like rent or mortgages, medical bills, utility payments, accessibility equipment for the disabled, or emergency repairs that prevent you from working or staying in your home

We understand that financial crises are time sensitive. Our committee aims to review and respond to all applications within 10 to 14 business days. In urgent cases, we do our best to expedite the review.

Yes. Many of our donors give in memory of a loved one, especially in support of our Widows Support Fund or Senior Care grants. You can specify this during the donation process.
